Understand the numbers behind your idea
You don’t need a finance background to take a first look at whether your business could work. This worksheet walks you through three things: what you plan to charge, what each sale costs you, and what you’ll need to spend to keep the business running.
From there, it calculates what each sale leaves towards your running costs and break-even: how much you need to sell to cover them. You can work through one product or several, allowing for how much of each you expect to sell. The aim is to turn “could this work?” into a more useful question: “Could I realistically sell that much at this price?”
You can change your estimates to see how different prices or costs affect the result. Rough figures are enough for a first pass: this isn’t a prediction or a guarantee, but a way to understand your assumptions and spot what needs a closer look.
